Connecting Language, Literacy and Infant Mental Health

This one day workshop will bring together specialists in the areas of early language, development and attachment to provide a practical overview of the connection of positive parent-child relationships and increasing parent skills, in promoting early communication. This workshop will provide professionals working with infants and families with an understanding of the early pre-verbal groundwork for future communication, language and mental health. Practical strategies for your work with families to promote and foster early language skills and family literacy will be presented. The importance of building collaborative partnerships and communication between parents and mental health professionals will also be discussed.

Health problems in common genetic syndromes such as Down and Fragile X will also be addressed.
