Dr. Jean Clinton, child psychiatrist, will present strategies to support the Enhanced 18-month Well Baby Visit. Hiltrud Dawson will present how the new website: On Track - Supporting Healthy Child Development and Early Identification in the Early Years: A Reference Guide for Professionals in Ontario can be used by service providers to support healthy child development, early identification and early intervention.
A panel of local experts, Dr. Pamela Frid, developmental paediatrician, Dr. Jane Gloor, paediatrician, Dr. Jamie Wickett, General Practitioner, Julie German, Nurse Practitioner, Debbie Shugar, tykeTALK and JoAnn Dunn, All Kids Belong will facilitate discussion about a variety of local services/resources available for intervention. Time will be allotted for further exploration of the On Track guide through small group discussions and review of case studies, including difficult cases from individual’s practice (please bring your laptop or similar device to connect online).
Speakers:
Dr. Jean Clinton is an Associate Clinical Professor, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster, division of Child Psychiatry. She is an Associate Member of the Offord Centre for Child Studies and has been a consultant to child welfare and children’s mental health programs for 25 years. A renowned international speaker, her community involvement is extensive. She was a founding Board member and Fellow of Fraser Mustard’s Council for Early Child Development and she currently leads the Enhanced 18-month Visit strategy provincially. She advocates for a system for children’s well-being and promotes Asset Building believing All Kids Are Our Kids.
Hiltrud Dawson is a health promotion consultant with the Best Start Resource Centre. She has extensive experience in the maternal newborn field as a nurse, midwife and lactation consultant and is currently expanding her portfolio into child health and development.
The Community Early Years Partnership is comprised of a group of local experts in the area of Early Child Development. The Physician Champion team consists of Dr. Pamela Frid, developmental paediatrician, Dr. Jane Gloor, paediatrician, Dr. Bhooma Bhayana, Dr. Jamie Wickett, Dr. Loretta Seevaratnam, Nurse Practitioners, and key community partners who focus primarily on the provision of services and intervention to families with young children within the community of London and Middlesex County. This group has been organized by the Middlesex London Health Unit in an effort to educate professionals, peers, and families/caregivers about the importance of regular developmental screening, early identification of developmental concerns and the value of early intervention.
