This half-day workshop is designed for service providers who offer reproductive health services to newcomer women (public health and community health nurses, obstetricians, family physicians, obstetrics hospital staff, health promoters, social workers, etc.).
The objectives of this workshop are to:
Increase knowledge of the beliefs and practices of newcomer women.
Provide strategies to help newcomer women and their families understand Ontario health practices.
Discuss strategies that can be used by service providers, within their organizational mandate, to accommodate the needs of newcomer women and their families.
The resource Giving Birth in a New Land – Strategies for Newcomer Women Working with Newcomer Women will be distributed to participants. The $35 registration fee includes lunch and participant handouts
