Speakers

Michelle Schwarz

Michelle Schwarz is a Public Health Nurse in Baby and Parent Health at the Halton Region Health Department. Michelle researched and wrote the Best Start Resource Centre manual titled "Reflecting on the Trend: Pregnancy After Age 35", with the assistance of content experts and an advisory group. Michelle provides training for service providers on considerations and care for advanced maternal age. Michelle has experience working in Public Health, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. Michelle has a BScN from McMaster University and a Master of Public Administration, Health Policy Specialization from Queens University.

 

Wendy Burgoyne: Best Start Resource Centre

Wendy has worked extensively on teen pregnancy, reproductive health risks in the workplace, health before pregnancy and the effects of tobacco smoke and alcohol during pregnancy. She assists communities across the province by providing presentations, consultations and designing new provincial resources. Wendy has presented at many conferences including Missouri Healthy Start, Guelph Conference on Human Sexuality, the Ontario Public Health Association Conference, Ontario Prevention Clearinghouse Congress, Maternal Newborn Network and has provided on-site consultations for over 30 Ontario Health Units.
