Ontario Alcohol and Pregnancy Awareness Materials and Strategies:
Just found out you're pregnant?
It's never too late to get the facts about alcohol and pregnancy

Materials released March 31, 2008

Local Activities

The Prevention Working Group of FASD Stakeholders for Ontario invites you to use the alcohol and pregnancy awareness materials in local activities. Local strategies can build on the provincial mall and transit ads scheduled for May 2008, or can be scheduled at another time of year. This webpage shares links to ideas and information that will help you develop local strategies.

Consider sending information to your local media contacts. Arrange for a media interview with a knowledgeable health care provider or with a parent of a child with FASD. Write articles about local statistics and concerns about alcohol and pregnancy.
Consider offering local health care providers patient information, setting up training for health care providers, or sharing new information about alcohol and pregnancy.
Ask businesses that are licensed to serve or sell alcohol if they will post information about alcohol and pregnancy. Encourage local restaurants and bars to provide free non-alcoholic beverages to pregnant women.
Put up posters in your community.
Provide materials and information to men and women who may be planning a pregnancy and to pregnant women.
